John Ellis strikes again…

The testimonials to Ellis about his water revitalizing machine are astonishing – astonishingly impossible. Chuck Yagiar describes an experiment he performed that shows the unbelievable power of even a small amount of this energized water. Henry the African frog lives in a 4 gallon tank, constantly plagued by dirt, grime, and foul odors. However, Yagiar added just 10 oz, about 2% of the tanks volume, of this energized water, and “It has been 4 weeks and the water is still CRYSTAL CLEAR, and it still smells clean” (Yagiar 5). Also, he adds this: “You don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure out what happened here, nor do you need elaborate testing equipment” (Yagiar 6). Obviously you don’t need to be a rocket scientist, just a bit of common sense. No kind of water could possibly clean up such filth, nor could it keep any more from entering the tank. So, just keep in mind the audacity of these ‘sincere’ testimonials.

Real Reasons to Fix Water

Testing tap water for contaminants is a critical issue. Contaminants effect the water’s taste, color, odor, can stain clothing and household fixtures, and may induce illness. Water that seems to be fine may, in fact, be unsafe. However, this does not mean everyone should have their tap water inspected for all possible contaminants. Those living in areas where water comes from a municipal water supply do not usually need to test their water because it is regulated to meet state and federal water standards. Those who live in certain rural areas, where trained specialists may not be hired to regulate the water supply, should have their water checked. Additionally, any home with deteriorating pipes and those with personal wells should have their water examined regularly. Also, pregnant women ought to test their household water supply for nitrate early in pregnancy, right after the baby is brought home, and six months later. Aside from these special cases, it may be beneficial to test a home’s water supply every three years for sulfate, chloride, iron, manganese, lead, hardness, and corrosion index.

Right or left?

It seems that the 'revitalized' company has been caught in the act. Two companies are selling 'revitalized water' are promoting evidence that totally contradict each other! Biznet, another healthy water website, is saying that their water is purified by giving water atoms a “positive left turning spiral.” The company states the benefits of a left spiraling water atom by stating this 'fact.'
“Examples found in nature of this spin properly include cellular DNA, which is a left-turning spiral: in contrast, cancer cells are in a right-turning spiral.”
Never mind that DNA is not an atom, the website’s claim to a right turning spiral for cancer cells are just wrong! Cancerous cells do not grow in spirals, nor do their DNA suddenly revert direction. But as the icing on the cake, their evidence directly contradicts the evidence given by the Rudis Organic Bakery, a healthy water website I’ve written on last week, which states that the ‘purified water’ activates the healing powers by having a right spinning atom! So… left or right? Which is it? Perhaps it is just wrong.

It's Crystal Clear!

Another machine has just made it to the list of machines that falsely claim to purify water: John Ellis’s WATER MACHINE. There seems to be a new reason that normal water isn’t satisfying for the body: water doesn’t have enough electrons anymore. Supposedly, “keeping water at the boiling point for hours drives off electrons needed to live” (Ellis 2). I just want to know, how does boiling water drive off electrons? If that were the case, we’d have some heavily negatively charged and unstable molecules floating around, which, surprisingly, we don’t. But how do we remedy these electron-less molecules? Repeatedly and quickly heating and cooling water multiple times in a minute fixes this lifeless water. Obviously, expansion and contraction can now add matter! Thank goodness for this, as the unstable molecules was a real cause of concern. But perhaps leaving the water alone is still the best solution.

Penta Water, Busted

Aqua Photonics is a distributor of Penta water. The company claims to use a thirteen-step purification process along with high-energy sound waves to change the structure of water. The makers of Penta claim that the water can hydrate better and improve a cell’s environment. This, they say, improves health and physical performance. The United Kingdom Advertising Standards Authority evaluated these claims, along with others. It was found that makers and distributors of Penta water could not support their claims that Penta differed in structure or health benefits from any other water, including ordinary tap water. Penta manufacturers and distributors were told to cease false claims and implications in their advertising.

An Energizer that does not Energize

Grander Living Water has been sold, to the unassuming, as a product which would have a positive effect on circulatory and skin disorders, as well as blood pressure among other effects. It would do so via the “energized water” it contained, which would “energize” all water it came in contact with by changing that water’s molecular structure through a process explained as vortex energy combined with polar cosmic forces. Consumer On Line, in 2001, had these devices tested by an independent, internationally accredited laboratory. The results were a scathing failure for the Grander Living Water system. No measurable changes were found which might have supported any claims made by the literature/advertisement set forth by Ecoworld, the company that sold and promoted Grander Living Water systems.

Bio-Genic Activator?

This company, the Rudis Organic Bakery, is a lesson in confusion. Their version of the ‘revitalized water’ scheme has parts that just don’t make sense. First of all is its origin. The Bio-Genic Activator, which is the name of the solution they’ve created, goes by the strange name of “Revitalized Anti-Entropy Water.” Anti-Entropy? Outside of a mathematical profession, Anti-Entropy does not make any sense. It’s clear in the Second Law of Thermodynamics that the entropy cannot ever decrease. It should be assumed that the designers decided that it was a scientific word that sort of meant ‘pure,’ as entropy itself means the randomness of a system. But the lies on the website prevail over simple word usage.

Revitalized Water also manifests fast right-spinning electrons, which is like creating a tailwind behind our life-giving substances, such as nutrients, driving them forward, and a headwind against our life-suppressing substances, such as toxins and pathogens, which slows them down and neutralizes their negative effects (HealthyReferral 4).

Right spinning electrons? It seems a bit too far fetched ever for the revitalized water claims. Electrons cannot all spin in one direction because of orbitals! They twist and curve, and are in constant random motion. I should have guessed from the shoddy website that I’d be fed equally shoddy information.

More More More Water Energizing Products!

The Centre for Implosion Research has created another fine masterpiece for energizing water, in the form of the “Water Egg.” This beauty is an egg-shaped container designed specifically for energizing and storing water in the refrigerator. Stated in Neiolos’s Personal Harmonizer FAQ is this information:
For specifically energising and storing small quantities of drinking water we have developed the WATER EGG an egg shaped porcelain urn. It can also be used for storing liquids such as, wine, juice, milk, kombucha, etc. A harmoniser is set in beeswax within the lid, which ensures that whatever you store in it becomes energized (FAQ 12).

The main page for the Water Egg provides the background for this ingenious plan. Viktor Schauberger has written that liquids should be stored in opaque, egg-shaped containers. Supposedly, this shape prevents water from staying still and becoming stagnant. This, however, is not a radically new idea: the genius Ancients used similar egg-shaped jars and urns for holding water, made from natural materials. The Water Egg tries to mimic this by using porcelain clay rather than plastic (Water Egg 1). The lid also has a personal harmonizer within it, to ensure quick energizing of water. In just 30 seconds, water will be energized, but it takes 15 minutes for the taste to improve (FAQ 11). Now you can keep an entire gallon of water energized in your fridge and ready to serve cool.

Some Interesting Chemistry…

Neiolos has gratefully put up an FAQ about the water energizer, answering exactly what happens to those chemicals vanquished by the Vortex Energizer. According to theorym, inorganic minerals, such as chlorine become charged, or enter a colloidal state. Water molecules then absorb these charged particles, so their taste disappears. However, there is more to the Vortex Energizer:
The other point of course is that the Vortex Energiser transfers its own natural vibrational imprint onto tap water. This means, that any imprints from chemicals or toxins in the water are erased and the new natural pattern of Vortex energy put in. This is a bit like taping some Bach or Beethoven over an old heavy metal cassette. Harmony displaces disharmony. Once the vibrational pattern has been changed, even if there are physical chemical residues in the water, their potential for doing harm is much reduced (Neiolos 16).

Again, the Vortex Energizer manages to mask harmful chemicals. This theory focuses on molecular vibration, rather than charge. The “vibrational imprints” created by the Vortex Energizer overwrite harmful imprints, hiding them beneath the layers. The only question is, how does copper tubing create this effect? Copper does not charge water meaningfully or create “vibrational imprints.” Actually, vibrational imprints fail to exist in any chemistry, save for their invention in water energizers. So what is this FAQ good for? Well, it Clears up ambiguity with more fallacies. Thank you, Neiolos.

Chi: For you and me

Chi! The Bio Energy Corporation is now advertising that their Aqua Optimizer 2000 is recovering dead water by, get this, injecting it with chi. It is the same chi acupuncturists claim causes diseases and afflictions. My feelings are actually mixed about the BEC. On one hand, they make the claim that injecting water with chi revitalizes the water because, apparently, it heals the body. Never mind that chi, the ancient Chinese ‘life force,’ has always remained in the body in Chinese medicine. The Chinese ‘chi’ cannot even be transferred from one person to another, let alone to water. But on the other hand, this site does not try to sound scientific. It is taking a wholly holistic approach to the idea of revitalizing water, providing no scientific evidence by choice. So it’s not technically deceit, as one is only lead to purchase the product through their own will, and not based on some shady scientist’s description of vortices and whatnot. After all the sites I’ve seen, should the BEC be praised, or condemned? Maybe it’s a step in the right direction.

Pseudo-Scientists Caught

Not all pseudo-science beneficiaries gain in the end. Ecoworld NZ Ltd was fined $60,000 for deceiving the consumers of their water purification system, which actually did not purify water. Instead the device, whose price ranged from $1,500 to $12,000, supposedly contained “living water,” which would give any water that came in contact with it special properties, such as an improved pH level or the ability to fight pathogens. However, test results of “purified” and unpurified water showed no significant difference between the two. The company was made to pay an additional $68,000 compensation to consumers of the purification system and $8,000 to the Commerce Commission. Deborah Battell, Commerce Commission Director of Fair Trading, encourages consumers to question suspicious claims made by companies, and tells people not to be tricked by professional looking brochures.

Earthtransitions strikes again!

Earthtransitions, a company that brought us the Vortex Water Energizer, seems to have found a cure for everything. Except that the 425 dollar energizer was too big to carry around! Alas! A cure was discovered. Enter the Harmonizer. This intriguing gizmo, less than two inches long and less than an inch wide, provides a safe shield from electromagnetic radiation. Never mind that on the exact same page it only claims to revitalize dead water! Apparently keeping a source of water alive also makes EMFs disappear! The company also seems to forget that for the Vortex Water Energizer, it specifically mentioned that it was the spiral shape of the energizer that caused the healing powers, and the water a bonus! The page merely throws this concept out altogether, saying the Harmonizer’s design appeared from ‘5500 year old Neolithic rock carvings at New Grange in Ireland’ (Earthtransitions pg. 4) I believe this phrase was suppose to mean something, but it passes over my head. I am tempted to mail Earthtransitions and tell the company since it only states the harmful “x-ray emissions” from cathode ray tubes, I will consider the Harmonizer useless thanks to my LCD screen, which does not have a cathode ray tube. Perhaps they will refer me to the Orgone Pyramid, which its simple conic shape is supposed to reduce vortices from other EMF sources, like my television. Oh, well.

The Etheric Field: Magic

Well the Vortex Energizer has more uses than just energizing water. The same etheric field that strengthens the water can also strengthen your body, as is discussed on the Neilos forums. As opposed to those cheap, worthless personal harmonizers, which give off a field of only about 45 cm in radius, the Vortex Energizer’s has a huge 4 meter radius! So when you sleep with it, your entire body is being empowered by these fields. Ah, but be careful! When you wake up in an etheric field, the energizer may appear to shake or make noises, which is “associated with the shift from the spiritual or physical world as you woke” (Neilos 4). But be careful, as this is not the intended use of the Vortex Energizer, and etheric fields can also amplify bad feelings if a body is not synchronized with its energy patterns (Neilos 3). So, now you can create Living Water when you’re awake, and fell more alive when you wake up. If etheric fields existed, that is.

Water Cluster Claims

The tendency of water molecules to associate, creating constantly changing polymeric units called “clusters,” has long been researched by chemists. Numerous “inventors” have claimed to have deciphered the nature of clusters and how to manipulate them to cure ailments. Some pseudo-inventors deem these clusters vital for human good health, but say the clusters are not usually present in water. Others state clusters are detrimental and must be removed from drinking water. Some claim cluster size or shape must be altered for the water to be beneficial. None of these claims have support from the scientific community. The promoters of these ideas are usually associated with product advertisement. Many use scientific terminology incorrectly, presenting false or misleading situations. For instance, assertions about structurally altered water furthering “cellular hydration” are unsupported scientifically and disagree with what is known about how water is moved across cell walls. Some go so far as to claim their products postpone or reverse aging, though nothing has yet been discovered that can do this.

Healthy Water Means Healthy People

Water is of indisputable importance to human health, enabling such bodily functions as respiration, metabolism, and temperature regulation. Thus, the water quality necessary for the body to function properly is commonly debated. Some claim that only distilled water is fit for consumption, while others believe that chlorinated fluorinated tap water is fine. Still others claim that water must have certain “vibrations” or an “atomic-spin” in order for it to provide any health benefits. The truth is water must merely be free of dangerous microorganisms and toxins to be beneficial. Since water readily dissolves many substances, tap water might not always be completely disinfected. It is important that water purification rids the water of any harmful substances, as well as removes off-tastes and scents, so people enjoy drinking water; after all, water is vital to good health.

Ether does.... what?

You can have your own spiraling metal thingy for only 425 bucks! Because it certainly won’t do anything else! The Vortex Water Energizer tries to sound scientific, but somehow manages to badly do… everything. The company, Earth Transitions, states that, “Vortex energized water shows substantially increased geometric structure of water molecule” (EarthTransitions 1). Nevermind that I have no clue how to increase the geometric structure of anything, but the website leaves out just how that helps aid the “250% increase in plant output” (EarthTransitions 1). Apparently, the Vortex Energizer works as a cosmic antennae that takes its energy directly from the Quantum Sea of Energy, or Ether, the discounted 19th century energy scientists theorized to explain light movement in a vacuum. How, especially since it doesn’t exist, can it power the Vortex Energizer? The website also shows pictures of supposed microscopic views of water before and after it’s been energized. The ‘before’ picture looks empty and clean, while the after photo is clustered with crystals and veins. How is putting these immense crystals, supposedly created by water molecules but visible at only 4000 magnification, supposed to strengthen my immune system?

There is still one saving point for the Vortex Water Energizer. It would look cool as a paperweight. But other than that, I fail to see any real use.

Dr. Bernd Schmeikal's "Analysis"

In the Biofield Laboratory in Vienna, Austria, Dr. Bernd Schmeikal performed an “objective” experiment, where he measured the effect of the Vortex Energizer on the pondus hydrogenii, or pH, of water. Also, he measured the conductivity of water. Through the different figures and charts, differences in measurements were shadily explained with the effect of the water’s friction and the diffusion of gas on the measuring probe. In essence, all experiments results were craftily explained with these errors. These errors included the Electrokinetic effect (motion of water creates electric charge), impurities in the air (produces a small change over a long time), and, unbelievably, “Unexplained Differences: Part of the measurement differences remain unexplained however much we try to explain them” (Schmeikal 27). So while both conductivity and pH indeed “differed significantly” (Schmeikal 13), these changes were probably induced by marginally imperfect conditions, affecting the outcome but falling within the error margin. This exemplifies the trickery with which the Vortex Energizer is marketed and produced. A cursory glance at the lab results, without noticing the error margins throughout, could cause more undeserved faith in the magical properties of such an invention.
